Asbestos Removal

As the summer holidays commenced Rightway Environmental began an Asbestos Removal project at a local secondary school in Hanham, Hanham Woods Academy.

Over the course of 3 days, one of our specialist teams undertook the removal of contaminated Ceiling Tiles and the Encapsulation of Asbestos Insulation Board upstands to the sky lights located on the 1st floor circulation area. The  sealing of the boards was undertaken using “Idenden ET150” encapsulant.

The perimeter of the ceiling grid had to be removed carefully inside a fully controlled enclosure to enable the supervsior to check for open voids before the main removals took place. This was due to access restrictions and the potential risk of contamination.

In order for the operatives to reach the ceiling, a stair scaffold was used to access the grid for the safe removal of the ceiling. When the ceiling was removed, an environmental clean was undertaken to all surface and M&E Services most of which were live. The works were undertaken giving due regard to the sensitive nature of the site.
