With weeks to go until the end of the school year, the school holidays are a great time to carry out a survey.

Asbestos was largely used in constructing schools until it was banned, however vandalism to the buildings and poor maintenance to the structures can make them at risk to exposing asbestos. The UK has the HIGHEST death rate for teachers from mesothelioma with children being particularly vulnerable to the disease.

Schools should be identifying the types of asbestos on their site so they can be managed safely.
