Asbestos Removal

Bath Demolition appointed Rightway Environmental to undertake two phases of work during 2017/2018 to facilitate the demolition of the well-known Former Brookes Laundry site in Bristol.

Rightways first phase of work began in September 2017 to remove thermal insulation to pipework and insulation residue to walls and, following the safe removal of the identified materials, the client began demolition.

The second phase of work consisted of the removal of asbestos thermal insulation which was discovered during the demolition process. The thermal insulation had been applied by hand around a water tank buried below ground level.

Before commencing the removal work a fixed scaffold was constructed around the water tank with a metal roof and monoflex sheeting to ensure the enclosure was protected from the elements. The asbestos was safely removed by our qualified team who used a specialised Red box injection wetting machine to ensure that the risk of fibre release was kept to an absolute minimum.

During the second phase of work the Rightway team were subject to two site audits undertaken by an independent consultancy and the UK’s leading asbestos industry trade association ARCA.  We are delighted to report that both audits were a complete success!
