Mount Gould Hospital
Rightway have recently successfully completed an asbestos removal project at the historic Mount Gould Hospital in Plymouth for the hospital’s Estates Services Department.
The work consisted of removing asbestos based insulation from 50 metres of pipework located in the roof void of the Administration Building and subsequently undertaking decontamination and thorough cleaning of the affected area.
The hospital was first constructed in 1897 and became a hospital for infectious diseases . It was rebuilt in 1931- 1932 and officially reopened by The Duke and Duchess of York in May 1933. It has been the subject of considerable refurbishment work over the years since.
The asbestos team ,headed up by Supervisor James Turner, took two weeks to complete the removal and decontamination works which had to be carefully planned to ensure the continuing safety of the building occupants that remained for the duration of the work.
The whole operation was undertaken within the program of works required by the client and to their entire satisfaction.
